Biography
Shahan Yacoubian, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hip and knee replacement. He is one of the most experienced and frequently referred joint replacement surgeons in the Los Angeles San Fernando Valley and has cared for patients at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center for more than 20 years.
Dr. Yacoubian’s top priority is his patients. With over two decades of experience, he is dedicated to helping people move more comfortably, reduce pain, and return to the activities they enjoy. He focuses exclusively on the hips and knees and treats a wide range of conditions, from early arthritis to complex joint problems that require revision surgery. He has performed over 10,000 surgeries since 2006.
His advanced training at Harvard University’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital and The Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City prepared him to perform both primary joint replacements and more complex procedures with confidence and precision. Patients often describe Dr. Yacoubian as calm, compassionate, and attentive, taking the time to listen and address concerns.
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Yacoubian plays an important leadership role within the Providence health system. He is the Vice Chairmen of the Valley Community Ministry Board overseeing both Providence Saint Jospeh Medical Center in Burbank and Providence Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills. In these roles, he works to improve the quality of care, patient experience, and patient safety.
Dr. Yacoubian is also active in advancing joint replacement surgery through his work on the editorial board of the Journal of Arthroplasty. He regularly volunteers on international medical missions, providing joint replacement care to patients in underserved communities around the globe.
Committed to giving back, Dr. Yacoubian volunteers at St. Francis High School, his alma mater. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with family and friends and following his hometown favorite Cleveland Browns and the Los Angeles Lakers.
